Ah, humidity

Starting off this morning at the ridiculous hour of 3:30 am, I made my way out to Portland International Airport. Destination: Miami. With a short stop in Denver, where it was a chilly 20 degrees complete with ice and snow, we finally arrived (2 hours late) in Sunny Flordia. We stepped off the plane and were welcomed with a nice blast of 80 degree weather complete with what felt like 80+ humidity. It's my first trip to Miami, but I think I'm going to like it.

J-Mac lights 'em up for 20

If you haven't heard of Jason McElwain's inspiring performance in a high school basketball game, you've got to read this story and watch the accompanying video footage.

Inspiring story for all of us.

Thank You Zazzu

There really is an art to printing. Don't let anyone ever tell you different. As proof, I offer up Zazzu. Mark Jaress runs this Fine Art Printmaking shop and he is truly at the top of his game. Mark has a long history dating back to the origins of Genuine Fractals and I recently had the pleasure of meeting him (via email & phone only unfortunately). He now runs Zazzu which does large format printing and some other really cool work.

Anyway, we asked Mark to do some large 36" x 44" prints for us for the upcoming Photoshop World Miami show. We just received them this morning and they are amazing. Granted, we're fortunate enough to be working with some very talented photographers, but the prints were amazing.

Great prints. Great service (the prints were packed very nicely). And a very fair price. If you need a large format print, look no farther than Zazzu.

MacLive Conference

Are you a Mac user? Live on the East Coast? Don't get out to SF for Macworld? Want to get in on a slew of training sessions? Then it sounds like the upcoming MacLive Conference may be the thing for you. Of course, you don't have to live on the East Coast, but it makes for a much shorter trip obviously.

Anyway, it looks like it will be a great event given the list of speakers.

Words at Play

I was reading John Nack's blog earlier today and saw his link to the Words At Play site. Very cool, clever and creative.

Photoshop World Countdown

Photoshop World Miami is just weeks away. We're pretty excited as we'll be there in booth 601. We've got some great stuff planned for the show, so if you're in the area drop by and say hello. We love meeting users of our software in person.

Take Great Pictures Contest

If you haven't seen it already, there's a great article about Genuine Fractals over at the Take Great Pictures site. Check it out here.

There's also a contest where you can submit your landscape or portrait photograph for a chance to win a copy of Genuine Fractals and an enlargement of your photo and to even have your work displayed at an upcoming trade show such as Photoshop World. The entries will be judged by Jill Enfield, Rick Sammon and Vincent Versace.

Win a free pass to the ADIM 9 Conference

If you missed your chance (and you may have since it's sold out) to get a pass to the upcoming ADIM Conference, you still have a chance...

onOne Software is going to be a sponsor of the event and as such, we've got a free Attendee pass that normally would cost upwards of $2,000.

Here's the deal, later this week, we're going to select one lucky name to get our Attendee pass for free. All you have to do is cover your own travel and loding costs. To get a chance to win, send an email to sales@ononesoftware.com. We'll draw a name on Friday, March 10, 2006 and email you if you are the winner. Check back to this blog and we'll announce the winner's name.

Good luck!

Back in town

Whew. I'm finally back in town. After a whirlwind trip to Orlando for PMA and then off to the United Kingdom for the Focus On Imaging show, I'm finally back in Portland. I've been lucky enough to travel all over the world, but there's nothing like coming home to Portland. Though I suspect everybody feels that way about their home town. Anyway...

My time in Orlando was short but sweet. Had a great time meeting some very cool people. One of the highlights was doing a video with Rick Sammon. Check his website at http://www.ricksammon.com for the video and a bunch of others. Rick has a tremendous amount of energy and kept me laughing at every turn. Check out his tutorials both on the web and on his DVDs. They're loaded with the same level of energy!
