June 2009 Photo Contest Winner

Wow. What a great photo contest we had in June! There were nearly 200 entries this month, making it our largest competition to date. Dave Cross, our guest judge for June, definitely had his work cut out for him. In the end though, only one photo could be selected as the winner.

Of all of the photos, Dave choose this one title "China Forbidden City" by Kent Davis.

Here's what Dave told me in making in his final decision in this month's contest.

"Jeez that was difficult! It would have been easy to go for the obvious choices like the hockey goalie, or the tulips in Ottawa (my second choice), but I chose China forbidden city by Kent Davis. I loved the simplicity of the image - it took a great eye to catch the interesting composition."

So congratulations Kent! And thanks to everybody who submitted all of those great photos! Here are some of my personal favorites from the contest that are worth a second look.

  1. Mike, thanks so much for picking me as a favorite! Just a note though, my last name is Waken not Walker (common mistake though). Thanks again!
