It’s taking a little longer than we had thought and hoped, but we’re nearing the end of development for version 1.1 of our DSLR Camera Remote app for the iPhone. We’re fixing bugs right now and the plan is to get the app submitted to the iTunes App store early next week.
In the meantime, I wanted to let you know the final and official list of DSLR cameras supported in the 1.1 release, so here’s the list broken down by camera manufacturer. You’ll note some supported features such as LiveView, Bulb Mode and Burst Mode are listed per camera as well. You’ll see quickly that not all features are available on all cameras. This is due to a lack of support in the camera manufacturer’s SDK or a physical limitation in the camera itself.

So there you have it, the full list of supported cameras in the upcoming DSLR Camera Remote for iPhone app version 1.1. Whether you get the Lite version that only triggers the camera shutter or the Professional Edition which does so much more, the supported camera list is the same. The final feature list will be posted next.

How about developing one for the Palm Pre?

the Canon folk got a new app discount when it came out for canon. Any chance there will be a discount for Nikon shooters when it comes out?

@Dwids: Nikon does not have support for the D70 in their SDK. We’d support it if it were included in their SDK but it’s not. Sorry.

Why isn’t the Canon 10D supported? Breeze Systems DSLR Remote Pro supports it, so I don’t think it is an SDK issue.

Hello David:
Your reply regarding the delay is probably the most professional disclosures that I have ever seen. Your candor is greatly appreciated.
Good luck releasing Version 1.5 (1.1)!

Like others I am a Nikon user and would appreciate your consideration of a discount similar to the one offered Canon owners. None of us would have taken advantage of the offer.

Another request for an introductory offer for Nikon users who might not have been aware that Nikon plans were in the works.
Thanks for your consideration.

@Pete Jensen: I talked to Apple yesterday. It’s still in review. And, they told me they have a 3 to 4 week waiting period right now. So it could happen sooner but it might take a while.

@Mike Wong: Nikon doesn’t support the D70 in their SDK?
… That’s just that makes no sense, since it’s obviously possible to control it using their own overpriced software. Also, this script can successfully control it using WIA in windows http://www.diyphotobits.com/download-diyphotobitscom-camera-control/
Please add support for it!

I have waited a month, become a fan on facebook, shared the link with friends to find out there is no D70 support or love for Nikon owners. Bummer.

Why does this support the Nikon D60 and D80 yet not the D70? Will the D70 ever be supported? Is there a way for me to get my D70 to work with this?

@Ryan: Nikon removed support for the D70 from their Camera SDK.
