Snow Leopard Update - 9/26/09

September 26, 2009 by Mike Wong • 14 Comments

Just a quick update to let you know where we are with our fixes for Snow Leopard. One of our engineers has been working on this all last week and we've been talking to our activation service provider and they've been helpful as well. I was given an internal test build of Plug-In Suite 4.5.2 the other day that should addresses the problem of Photoshop crashing on quitting and the activation issues.

So far, in 2 days of testing on my MacBook Pro, the problems have not been showing up. All of my plug-ins activate the way they should and I don't get activation error messages. When I quit Photoshop, it quits without crashing.

We need to do some more testing, but it's looking good at this point. Stay tuned for more. We've sent out the Suite 4.5.2 candidate build out to a few customers to get some more testing "out in the wild" on other systems than just ours so we need to gather that feedback as well.

As soon as we have confirmed this and get it posted, I will let you know. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.

  1. Is this going to be for all the apps which are in the suite? I have PhotoTools 2.0.1 PE and it crashes with CS3 and Snow Leopard every time it runs; FocalPoint1 survives about 70% of the time without a crash, but those aren’t really good numbers for software this expensive.

I’d really like to be able to get my workflow restarted. Time is money, and I spent mine with you all.

  2. Will this also fix Photo Frame 4 on CS4? This is my first purchase with onone, but it looks like it may be my last. The software looks wonderful, but if I can’t use it, I don’t see a benefit for me.

  3. Thanks for the update Mike!

I too am waiting and looking forward to the revision…
    I’ll think positive!

  4. @Shawn – yes, the fix will be for all apps that are in the Suite even if you don’t own/use the Suite. I agree with your comments and appreciate your support and patience.

@Kelly – Yes, this will fix PhotoFrame 4. As I said to @Shawn, we appreciate your support and your patience.

In general, the fixes are specifically for Snow Leopard and will correct the problems regardless if you are using Photoshop CS3 or CS4.

@Dunc Fowler – thank you for the kind words!

  5. I find PhotoFrame 4 tends to crash most times on my system (Snow Leopard) yet if I restart Photoshop it will work. Needless to say just before using OnOne plugins I make sure I do a save. The other programmes seem to work fine although I haven’t tried Mask Pro on SL yet.

  6. I purchased my onOne software just days before the Snow Leopard release and have experienced all the problems that came along with this install and subsequent upgrade of my OS. I purchased the programs separately because I wanted the PRO versions of Frames and Tools so they would work within my Aperture 2.0 as well as PS CS4. Will the Suite update fix the PRO versions? Will their continue to be problems with the Aperture side of these plug-ins, or does the fix address all problems with Snow Leopard. I have been VERY frustrated, particularly with the considerable cash outlay yielding me only 1 friendly day of use…and then nothing since then.

  7. I am only experiencing the crashing when launching Genuine Fractals. Is that typical? I have the full Pro Suite. Tools & Frames work w/out a hitch. GF crashes PS CS4.

    Looking forward to the update.

  8. I am having problems with snow leopard and onOne software – tells me my product is not registered for my computer! How can this be fixed. since I have indeed registered this product on the computer I am attempting to use it on…

  9. Timeline on the fix? Please? Now it’s causing CS3 to crash randomly even if I’m not using it. I have removed it from the plug-in folder and CS3 is okay again.

  10. well I spoke too soon about things being fixed. When I try to use Photo Tools 2 Professional Edition, I get the “PhotoTools is launching. Please wait…” and nothing ever happens. The only way to get out of it is to do a force quit.

  11. Can we get an update please???? If not a software update then at least an update on what is going on and an ETA on the fix?

  12. 9/26/09 > ‘just a quick update’… Today 10/07/09 a fix? Nope! Still testing? BTW ‘Apple broke your software with their new OS release?’ >> I don’t think so! Version 4.5.1 running on 10.5.xx (Leopard)> same problems. So what’s next, huh? Tour time is up! No more words, but we want a FIX please!

  13. What I did finally was go back to 10.5 and everything is working. The support I got, especially from Cheryl Royce was exceptional. I was having trouble with Snow Leopard with CS4, CS3 and who knows what else. I’m back and all is working. thanks. By the way, I was migrating from last years MacPro to the new MacPro. It had been shipped with a CD of Snow, but not installed thank goodness.
