We have just posted an update to our DSLR Camera Remote Server. The version has been bumped up to version 1.2. Here’s what’s new:
- Fixed an issue with the Canon Rebel T1i preventing its use on Windows
- Added support for Nikon D300s
- Fixed an issue with Nikon D300 when used in LiveView and Burst mode at the same time
- Improved permissions detection and warning on Mac OS X
- Fixed an error on Mac OS X when an old version of Nikon Camera Control is installed
- Fixed an error when attempting to autofocus in LiveView when the camera is set to manual focus
- Fixed a problem with bulb mode on the Rebel T1i
The new version of the DSLR Camera Remote Server is compatible with version 1.1 of the iPhone or iPod Touch app. The iPhone/iPod touch app and the server DO NOT require the same version number as they did in the past. Also, please note that this update is an update to the Server and not the iPhone/iPod Touch app. You will not see an update in the iTunes store.
You can download the new DSLR Camera Remote Server 1.2 immediately from our web site.

You can download the new DSLR Camera Remote Server 1.2 immediately from our NEW web site here.

Great – but I don’t see the issue with the Nikon D700 addressed above. I’ll update in a couple of hours and test to see if this is fixed

Hi Mike,
The link you’ve posted goes to an “Oops Page not found” page. Also, now when going to the downloads page and requesting DSLR Remote Server and filling out the name/address/email form it does send a email – with a link that goes here – http://ononesoft.cachefly.net/dslr_remote/mac/Install_DSLR_Remote_1.2.dmg. And guess what – The page you requested was not found….
So, it looks like there is no way to get the new version right now. I’m looking forward to trying version 1.2 as I can consistently crash 1.1 from my iPhone and a Nikon D3x.

The download link for DSLR Remote Server (Mac Version.) is not working.
How can we use the software when the download link is 404?
“The page you requested was not found”
Please check your cachefly account and make sure it’s working correctly.

Sorry for the 404 errors. We updated our web site over the weekend and the URL in this blog post got broken. I just updated it in the original post above.
Thanks,
Mike

@John: Can you try again? I just tested it and I get the download links in the email and clicking on them starts the download. Thanks.

@david: We do not have any plans to port the DSLR Camera Remote over to the Zune platform. Sorry.

…But can you connect a dslr straight to an ipod and view? No. So basically it’s pointless as you still need to be tethered to a pc which defeats the whole object

@David:
Well, it all depends on what you do and what you’re trying to accomplish. For some your comment may be true. For others, they find the DSLR Camera Remote very useful. Like many accessories and software tools out there “your mileage may vary.”
Best,
Mike

When will we be able to manually enter the IP address of the server rather than rely on discovery?
It is *impossible* to work across subnets right now and in a large organizations, wireless networks are often on different subnets than the PCs. Please, please, please, add the capability to manually enter the IPs in the client and server!!!!

@Marc: This feature suggestion is on our list already. I don’t have a time line though as to when it will be added into the product.

Is there a reason the ‘10D’ is excluded?
Thanks,

Are there any plans to release a Windows Mobile compatible version?
Ricky
October 13, 2009 at 9:44 am
@RickB – The 10D is not supported in the Canon SDK.
@Ray – we’d like to support video in the cameras that have it, but the SDK doesn’t give us access to it.
@photo2009 – We don’t have any plans to add support for Sony cameras at this time.
@Ricky – We don’t have any plans for a Windows Mobile version.

Hey,
Canon released on 11/30/2009 a SDK that supports the 7D (EDSDK 2.7).
When do you think you will provide support for the 7D?
Thanks

“When will we be able to manually enter the IP address of the server rather than rely on discovery?”
If you guys could get this working, it’d be fantastic. Unfortunately at the moment the software binds to a 172.16.x address, which my browser can get to, but my LAN is 192.168.x and the iPhone software can’t find it.
Thanks for your hard work and this great bit of software.
