Apple’s iTunes App Store team approved version 1.3 of our DSLR Camera Remote app for the iPhone and iPod Touch this week and both versions (Lite and Professional) are now available as free updates within the iTunes App Store. You can get the update manually from your iPhone or iPod Touch by going to App Store and then tapping on Updates and then on DSLR Camera Remote.
The 1.3 update adds support for the following cameras:
- Nikon D3s
- Canon EOS 7D
- Canon EOS 1D MK IV
Additionally, version 1.3 includes some bug fixes including:
- Improved logging to aid in troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Improved compatibility with the Canon EOS Rebel T1i
- Improved compatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
- Simplified using multiple options simultaneously
Please note, this new version 1.3 requires that you download version 1.3 of the DSLR Camera Remote Server as well. The DSLR Camera Remote Server is a free download available on our downloads page.

That’s nice for Iphone photographers, but it would be nicer if OnOne would get Suite 4.5 to work with CS4 in Windows 7.

@Jim Hayes: I’m not sure what isn’t working for you, but if you need support the best place to go is to our Support page. I believe that there are some known redraw issues with PhotoTools 2 in CS4 with Windows 7 and there are some work arounds for that but aside from that I’m not aware of any major issues preventing Suite 4.5 working with CS4 and Windows 7. Again, the blog here isn’t the best place to go for TS but rather our Support page. Thanks.

Thank you than you thank you! I just upgraded from EOS 30D to 7D and I know that there are people who have waited for 7D support a lot longer than I have, but I’m still pretty fired up about this update!

Sounds like this App is great for studio photographers, but as a nature photographer myself, I can’t really be hauling a laptop around with me in the field. There are several new bluetooth dongles coming out for Nikon cameras anyway, any chance you will be offering an upgrade or similar app that controls the camera via bluetooth? Even just a shutter release would be a great feature for me.

Hey! How about creating one of these wicked canon camera-triggering phone apps for the Droid Eris and the motorola droid for those of us who have no desire to switch to AT&T in order to get the iphone! Pretty please????

Renee, how about you stop whining and buy an iPhone?
Really, it’s like you’re asking Nintendo to make a Mario game for your Playstation because you’re not willing to buy the console–you just want the excellent, proprietary software.
dSLR Camera Remote is wonderful. Thanks, OnOne! It’s totally a killer app!!

Nikon D3…with recent Camera Remote upgrade… Is is possible for the iphone to be a mobile monitor while I hold the camera and shoot ‘normally’? I was playing with the app, and thought I had it, but couldn’t get it to work this way… In a studio situation, I would like to have my choreographer view each shot ‘remotely’ on an iPhone without having to step over to the laptop or camera monitors for each image. If not currently possible, would make a great app even better! Thank you, jk

So would this be worth me going out and buying on of those Itouch things? I can’t do the Iphone because I am with Verizon Wireless and on a contract. (plus wouldn’t have At&t anyway) but if it can be used on a Itouch (mp3 player in a sense) I would spend the $200 on one of them. I have wanted one for awhile.
Is there a place that describes how this works? Like do I have to have my computer with me? I would like more details!
Thanks
Kim

It’s great to hear more cameras being added to the compatible list.
Quick question: Will the Canon Rebel T2i (aka 550D) be a compatible camera with your software?
Thank you and keep up the great work!

What I really need is an iPod connected DIRECTLY to my camera, not to my computer. This is great for many situations, especially macro shots close to ground or shots from impossible angles where a remote monitor comes in handy. Will you support this configuration? Is anyone making a cable that will do that? Or better yet, a small bluetooth device that can connect the camera to the iPod?

Hi there,
I have been searching Google and this website but are there any plans to connect directy from your Iphone to a WFT? I have a 7D and an WFT-E5, and it would be very nice just to control my camera via this connection, without the need for a laptop.
So wireless control my camera. Maybe this is already possible but I can not find how make this work.
Please respond so I know if I have to search further or wait some more

@Emilio: We’re working on T2i support and some other things as well. In the past when I’ve said we’re working on something people then get upset with me because no matter when it comes out it’s not soon enough so in general I’ve been hesitant to say much on this kind of thing. But we are working on it.

@Rafael: Unfortunately, Nikon does not support the D3000 in their software development kit so we cannot offer support for it in our app at this time.
