We have had lots of comments and questions about providing Aperture 3 support with our plug-ins. Specifically, making them 64-bit so you can run them natively within Aperture 3 without having to quit and relaunch Aperture 3 as a 32-bit app. I won’t get into the details here (or anywhere else for that matter) but converting our 32-bit plug-ins to be 64-bit is not as simple as checking a box and re-compiling contrary to what many believe. Other apps may be that easy, but that is not the case for us (or others that I’ve talked to).
Anyway, the long and short of it is that we have been working on making 64-bit versions of the Mac OS X versions of our plug-ins for a little while now and are entering the home stretch. When released, these 64-bit updates will be free of charge to registered owners of the current versions of our plug-ins. So if you’re not registered, now would be a good time to do that.
So the date. You’re probably asking “when will Aperture 3 support be coming?”. As of today, we’re looking at May 15, 2010 to have those free updates available. Sooner if possible, but with what we’re currently working on, it’s looking like May 15, 2010.

What will be the price for customers that have the previous version of the full suite (4.5) ? Will we be forced to upgrade to the latest version 5 in order to gain access to those updated Aperture 3 plugins?

@Eric – The upgrade price from Suite 4.5 to Suite 5 is $199.95. Since we are no longer developing or maintaining Suite 4.5 for future compatibility, an upgrade to Suite 5 will be necessary to get the 64-bit versions that will work natively in Aperture 3. Your existing plug-ins that are 32-bit will work with Aperture 3 but only in 32-bit mode.

So, if I was planning to buy PhotoFrame 4.5 but wanted support for Aperture 3 and 64bit, I should wait till May 15th, and buy the entire 5.0 suite instead?
I love your products, and want more than just the PhotoFrame now, sounds like you’ll have them all upgrade by May 15?

@Chris – You can wait, but there’s no need to if you don’t want to. The reason I say that is the 64-bit updates that will support Aperture 3 as well as Photoshop CS5 will be free updates to registered owners of the current versions of our products.
However, if you’re planning on getting the entire Plug-In Suite 5, don’t buy PhotoFrame 4.5 by itself first as PhotoFrame 4.5 is included in the Suite. And yes, all of the current products will be updated in May.

Um, yeah, it’s May 25th now.
As soon as you release the Plugs for Aperture 3, I’ll upgrade from Suite 4 to 5.
I’m not shelling out till onOne has the plugs for Aperture 3 done, sorry.
And if Tim’s right, I can wait till next year.

Tell me please, what do you mean by ‘Aperture 3 support coming’ ??? Is that this year, next year or what?! Still working on Adobe stuff first? Sure, I can work in 32-bit mode, but I have a 64-bit machine, got it?

On 03.31.10 you wrote — So the date. You’re probably asking “when will Aperture 3 support be coming?”. As of today, we’re looking at May 15, 2010 to have those free updates available. It took you already 3 months and still no update? I noticed 64-bit support for Photoshop, CS5 was launched April… and Aperture 3 Feb. So are you guys really working on the Aperture plugins? I don’t think so, it’s just bulls^^ talking!! We are working on it….sure!
