Back in early March (the 7-10th to be exact), our UK office was at the annual Focus on Imaging show in Birmingham, England. The four day show attracts both professional and enthusiast photographers from all across Europe. I’m told that this show was the biggest ever with over 200 exhibitors and over 37,300 attendees.

In the onOne Software stand (we call them booths over here in the U.S.) our U.K. team led by Bob Campbell mixed things up a bit this year and converted part of the space to be a mini photo studio. Award-winning fashion and beauty photographer Andy Kruczek (you can see some of his work in our Pro Corner) was on hand each day in the “onOne Studio” along with Doug Campbell. Together, they showed some practical applications of using onOne Software products in conjunction with a live shoot.

After taking shots of models Clare and Emilie against a Lastolite Hi-Lite background, they used Mask Pro to isolate them and then run through PhotoTools 2.5 Professional and PhotoFrame 4.5 Professional. Once completed, they brought it all back into Photoshop with some pre-shot background elements and text to create the look and feel of vintage magazine covers and film posters.

Shooting large JPEG files on his Canon 1Ds Mark II, Andy Kruczek explained that he wanted the images to be as close to a real world situation as possible and was excited to demonstrate the ease of use of the software, encouraging visitors at the booth to try their own hand and create the look themselves. Many of the images were then processed with Genuine Fractals and printed on a large format Epson printer at the Epson booth.

A big thank you goes out to Andy Kruczek for working with our U.K. team for a great show at Focus on Imaging! Here are some photos from the event.
