Photoshop CS5 Compatible Updates Now Available
June 1, 2010 by Mike Wong • 49 Comments
The news that you have all been waiting for...our Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS5 Extended compatibility updates have been posted to our download server and are ready for you. In addition to Photoshop CS5 compatibility, these updates also offer 64-bit compatibility for Mac OS X users ((Windows users have had 64-bit compatibility already since Suite 5 was released back in December 2009)).
Here's what you need to know about these updates.
- If you are a registered user of any of the current versions of our plug-ins, these updates are provided free of charge.
- Even if you're not using Photoshop Cs5 but are still using Photoshop CS2, CS3 or CS4, you will benefit from these updates as we've fixed several known bugs in this release.
- This release includes our official support for Aperture 3, specifically running in native 64-bit mode as opposed to running in 32-bit mode as was previously required for our plug-ins.
- This release includes preliminary support for the public beta of Lightroom 3. Official support for the shipping version of Lightroom 3 will be available after Lightroom 3 officially ships. ((Seems obvious, but I thought I should mention that.))
- The safest, most foolproof way to do these updates are to visit our Software Updates page and download the appropriate installer and then run it. Please note, if you are a Suite 5 user, be sure to download the Suite 5.1 installer/updater and not the individual product installers/updaters.
- If you have any of your own custom frames that you have created and imported into PhotoFrame, be sure to make a backup copy of your User frames folder BEFORE you install the Suite 5.1 update and then re-import your custom frames. Unfortunately, if you do not, you may lose these frames as we have seen where the database installer may wipe these out. Also, any ratings you've given your frames will be lost.
So if you're ready to download the Photoshop CS5 update for your particular product, please visit our Software Updates page and get the installer you need. If you're wondering, here are the official most recent version numbers for each product as of this release.
- Plug-In Suite 5.1
- Genuine Fractals 6.06
- FocalPoint 2.0.1
- PhotoTools 2.5.3
- PhotoTune 3.0.2
- PhotoFrame 4.5.1
- Mask Pro 4.1.8

Thank You Mike,
As CS4 user, I hope my Suite 5 will work even better now
I was unable to install the entire update because of an “Installation Failed” message. I was able to browse the package and install everything except PhotoFrame Professional, which kept throwing the failed installation message. Any ideas why?
Thanks! I have both CS4 and CS5 on my Mac 10.6.3 and Plug-In Suite 5.1 works
on both except my menu “onOne” disappeared from CS4 and never showed up on CS5.
All the plugins are under “Automate”.
Hi, I am happily downloading the new Plug-In Suite 5.1 now (big download!) I am wondering if I should uninstall all the Suite 5 programs from my prior version before installing Suite 5.1? Thanks, ~Nancy
I installed the update and the software is not launching from Lightroom 3
In Lightroom 3, I get a message that says “Lightroom is no longer running. Please start Lightroom and try again”
@Phil – I’m not sure why you’d get a failed installation message. Have you tried again with any success?
@Andrew – the onOne menu is going away. We posted a note about this here. You can go to Window > Extensions > onOne to get the new onOne panel though that replaces the onOne menu that was very popular.
@Nancy – There’s no need to uninstall Suite 5.0 before running the Suite 5.1 installer.
@Jesse – Suite 5.1 does not fully support Lightroom 3 yet.
I installed updates to Genuine Fractals Pro and PhotoTools Pro. Without fail now Photoshop CS4 crashes every time I try to use Genuine Fractals Pro. It’s fine if I select the Express mode or the Batch mode, just not the full, regular GF Pro.
Hey guys- Great job! Just installed update into CS5 and everything works great. However, on first attempt I did get a failed installation warning. However, I tried a second time and it went perfect. Don’t know what caused the error the first time but it quickly resolved itself! I ran through my workflow with the upgrade and it was blistering fast. Now I will have to go get some more clients to fill in all my spare time!
Thanks Again for your fast and furious work to update. The boys over at NIK are still scratching their heads!
I downloaded the Phototools 2.5 Standard Update and the Photoframes 4.5 Pro Update. Both for Mac. The Phototools will not even run because it says the disc is “Not Recognized”. The Giant 1.8 GB Photoframes opens into a blank folder with nothing in it.
What’s up with that. Please don’t tell me I have to spend another 4 hours trying to download it again.
I downloaded the individual updates and all but one was successful.
The PhotoFrame 4.5 Pro only delivers emptiness. I downloaded it 3 different times
hoping it would be resolved but as of 1:30 P.M. Eastern June 2nd still no Joy.
i am a onone software user from china, last night, when i finished update suite5.1,i can’t find onone menu in photoshop cs5,and i setup PS cs5 to 32bit, still no find it.
can somebody help me? why?
thank you you you very much.
a friend from china
Updated to Phototools Standard 2.5.3 – once I launch it it appears to load, although my working photo does not come up in phototools, it is just black. If I cancel it locks up CS5.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Joel
i have the same “EMPTY” disk image for photoframes 4.5 – any solution to this? the download is huge, so i don’t want to download another empty image.
heyyy
phototune always gives me this error: 1017
and focalpoint doesnt apply settings to the layer
if i click apply it doesnt change the pic !!!
For errors on the PhotoFrame installer, please download it again (sorry, I know it’s huge). There was an error in the first upload process which has since been resolved.
If you can’t find the plug-ins after the update, go to the File > Automate menu or go to Window > Extensions > onOne. That’s where the plug-ins all live.

I just switched everything over to 64-bit and got Photoshop CS5 and OnOne 5. Photoshop runs like a dream but when I try to install OnOne it says it can’t find Photoshop and forces an exit.
I guess it doesn’t know it’s in the 64-bit folder.
Am I missing something??
Cheers
hullo?
Anyone got an idea about this? I’m out of ideas.
@Rick: Do you have Suite 5.1 installed? If not, you can grab the updater from our Software Updates page.
No, I haven’t been able to install Suite 5.0 due to the above problem.
The update to 5.1 won’t install because it needs 5.0 to install on top of…
I’ve done a complete re-build due to this issue… new windows, fresh Photoshop and I still get the same message. Have posted in tech help but no answer thus far. PLEASE help, this is killing me.
Hi – Have the same issue like Rick – my CS5 is installed on another path, but there is no option to guide the Suite to this path manually.
Hi,
Just bought Photo Frame 4.5.1 for the Mac. Getting Installation Failed error. Tried restarting and nothing. Going to try re-downloading it.
Please help.
Hi,
I just installed the new 5.1 suite. Unfortunately, when i launch Photoshop CS5, a “double menu” appears. I mean that a kind of floating bar, which is identical to the main menu, is displayed. It disappears when i minimize the Photoshop window and then maximize it, but it comes back when i switch from one workspace to another for example.
If you don’t understand, i can upload a screenshot.
Many thanks,
P.S. All the plugins work flawlessly
Do I have to reinstall the plug in suite on CS5? I have the entire suite on CS3, but when I downloaded CS5, the plug ins did not show up under my filters.
I was able to get the onOne Suite 5 as well as the update installed on my CS5, however when I go to Window > Extensions and try to pull up the onOne panel, the panel is empty. Can someone explain how to fix this?
While I can access the suite under file automate, I would like to have access to the panel. Thanks

Hi I am using the plugin suite 4.5.2 and i get the error ‘lightroom is not longer running’ in LR 3. This is very annoying.
same error as Jesse but i use the 4.5.2 .
Any help ?
Thanks in advance
Hmm Same problem as described above, Phototools doesn’t come up in Photoshop CS5 64-bit, just goes blank and locks up. Phototools batch still works, and the window menu with filter works, but the Phototools application doesn’t load and CS5 locks up.
Hi! I am new at the blog and i am thrilled with the news. Ive been using CS4 for quite a time(not a pro) and i haven’t updated it since the purchase. Thanks a lot
I just upgraded to CS5 and installed Suite 4.5 (or 4.5.2 upgrade) which I purchased a year ago also. Installation with no issues at all but I don’t see any of the OnOne menus in CS5. This morning (Japan time) I called the tech support and explain to them the issues that I’m having, and they told me that I need to upgrade to Suite 5! Do I need to upgrade from Suite 4.5 (4.5.2, which I did) to Suite 5? no I DON’T!
Does anyone has issues with their Suite 4.5 (4.5.2) on CS5? I really need help here.
what kind of a blog is this?? It seems that WE, the users are blogging and crying and NO ONE from OnOne software were able to help or even have their voice on the issues/problems/dilemma that we’re facing!!
Hi,
I’m having the same problem as Julietta, focalpoint creates an empty layer in CS5.
It doesn’t apply settings to the layer and if I click apply it doesn’t change the pic.
Any solution please? It’s urgent.
Aries

Forgot to mention, it’s a mac version. thanks
@asusanto: we believe we have a fix for the FocalPoint error and should be releasing it soon.
@jd: this blog is not meant for tech support. Request for technical support need to go through the tech support request form at http://www.ononesoftware.com/support/contact-ts.php
@Hamidi: I think I replied to your comment on our facebook page the other day, but the short answer is that Suite 4.5.2 will not unfortunately run in CS5. A lot of stuff changed in CS5 from a developers perspective that makes Suite 4.5.2 not work properly. Since Plugin Suite 5 was the current version when CS5 shipped, that is the version we updated. It took us six months just to update Suite 5 to be compatible with CS5, which is a very long time “just for a compatibilty update”. It just wasn’t possible for us to update Suite 4.5.2 as well and still be able to start working on new projects as well.
I purchased the upgrade to Photoshop CS5 (from CS3)… installed everything (on a Mac) but the “environment” remains at CS3 level… can’t find the needed 3D stuff… what am I doing wrong? Thanks…
hey… i did update focalpoint to 2.0.2 but the error is still there
it doesnt apply the settings to the layer…
and i also updated phototune to 3.0.3 and still get the error code 1017 its says me to contact the onone support.. (i use the professional one)
Hello
fotoframe and mask pro don’t start with CS5 also als Trial version whats the wrong?
I downloaded MaskPro 4.1b Demo it installs but will not open I’m using OSX 10.6.6 and Photoshop CS5 64bit
OK. I uninstalled (thanks for some detailed instructions for uninstalling on a Mac — it was more complicated than I realized). Now I only see two instances of each plug-in in the Automate menu. That also is annoying but better than the half-dozen of each I saw before.
And what about the quick launch menu? Is that coming back?
Again, I found the menu option thanks to instructions I found above in this thread. Thank you.
OnOne support was great in letting me know how to get rid of multiple instances of each plug-in. All is well now.
My Focalpoint is still not working. I keep seeing references to : Plug-in Suite owners, please make sure to download the Plug-in 5.1.2 update.
I can’t locate this update anywhere on the site! Very frustrating
I have same issue as Gérard.
Double menu, very annoying.Disappears on window resize but then is comes back after workspace change. Uninstalling evryting did’t help at all. It appears only on 32 bit version of the software.
Hope someone knows solution to this issue.
@Jay
Make sure you do not have any duplicate plugins lingering in your Plugins folder of Photoshop. If you manually moved plugins this would cause the problem
C:/Program Files>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5>Plugins
C:/Program Files x86 >Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5>Plugins
Also, make sure you do not have Photoshop>Preferences>Plugins looking at an additional plugins folder.
This would cause the problem as well.
i have seen this page

Hi
I am unable to use mask pro 4.1 and genuine fractuals in Adobe photoshop CS5, when ever I try to install the applications they go into CS3 but not into the CS5 plugins I have tired to manually drop these applications into adobe CS5 plugins but that does not work either. What am I doing wrong , do these plugins not work with CS5 ?
