DSLR Camera Remote HD Update

Posted on January 6, 2011

Sorry for the delay in posting an update here. As you can imagine, it's taking a little longer than initially expected. Getting the video start/stop functionality has been the culprit here. Not making excuses, just giving you context. Pretty much each of the Canon DSLRs that support video, each do it a little differently. The 5D Mark II and the T2i are pretty close. But the 7D and the 60D are different from each other and from the 5D Mk II and the T2i.

We'd get one camera working and then it would break the other camera from working. Lots of late nights on behalf of our engineer later, we're down to the final testing now that we have the video mode working in the supported Canon cameras.

Also, I'm pleased to share with you that we will be officially supporting the Nikon D7000 in the HD version for the iPad and the 1.4 release for the iPhone and iPod Touch. We weren't planning on that initially because the Nikon SDK wasn't out when we started, but it was released a couple of weeks ago so rather than shipping 1.4 and then having to start over with a 1.5 or 1.4.1 or whatever, we decided to delay the HD and 1.4 releases to get support for this popular new camera from Nikon.

If things go as planned with the remaining bugs we have planned to fix, we expect to submit both the HD version for the iPad and version 1.4 for the iPhone and iPod touch to the iTunes App Store the week of January 17th. Thanks for your patience.
