Hey everyone, Brian Matiash here.

I wanted to take a minute and share an example of an image I worked on last night to illustrate the power of Perfect Effects 3. I took this image over the weekend at Multnomah Falls and when I imported my shots into Adobe Lightroom 3, I had high hopes for it however, at first glance, it really didn't jump out at me. And that is where the power of Perfect Effects 3 comes in. I knew that if I applied a small dose of Tonal Contrast, it would immediately cut through the haze created by the misting water. I also amped up the cool tone of the water by applying a Cooling Filter, under the Photo Filters category, and masked out the boulder in the foreground. To further contrast that foreground element from the rest of the scene, I added a Green Enhancer effect along with lightening it up a bit using the Lighter effect under the Color & Tone Category.

In the end, I was left with an image that really got me jazzed and it was all because of the power found within Perfect Effects 3! We hope you enjoyed this little bit of creative inspiration!

One of the more common questions that we have been receiving to our Customer Service and Tech Support lines is "how do I launch the new Suite?" We've also been asked "where is Layers 2 within the Suite?"

To help answer this, Brian Matiash has recorded a quick video to show you how, on both Mac and Windows operating systems, to access the Perfect Photo Suite 6 from within Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture and as a Standalone application. Please note, that Perfect Layers 2 is now the main heart of the Suite so when you launch the Suite 6 app, you are starting out in Layers already so there is no need to look for a Layers module to select and open.

Later today, I'm going to be having lunch with Seth Resnick as he's in town with his D-65 Digital Workflow workshop. Seth is a great photographer, instructor and an even nicer person so I'm really looking forward to seeing Seth again. But I'm not writing this to tell you about my lunch plans...I'm posting this to let you know about a discount that Seth is offering for an upcoming workshop next month in Mendocino, CA with Greg Gorman (another world-class photographer and extremely nice person). The workshop runs from September 11 - 16, 2011.

Here's a description of the workshop from Seth & Greg.

Learn or improve your studio and location lighting with Greg Gorman, and Seth Resnick for a special one week All shooting and creative workshop in spectacular Mendocino, CA
.

World renowned photographer Greg Gorman invites you to join him at the Greg Gorman Digital Workshop in Mendocino, California where Greg shares his knowledge of digital photography in the intimate setting of his home and studio on the Pacific North Coast. Greg's special guest is Seth Resnick who is returning for a third time.

This workshop is ideal for any photographer looking to enhance his/her camera, lighting, color management, image editing and fine art printing making skills. The locations are beyond spectacular with shooting on the rugged coast, amazing sand dunes, the redwood forests, and vineyards.

The workshop provides two professional models from New York and Los Angeles and one on one instruction from Seth and Greg.

<- end description from Seth & Greg ->

The cost of the workshop is normally $4,250 but if you use the discount code D65 you can save $750 to bring the cost of the 6 day workshop to $3,500. I've talked to several photographers who have been to this workshop in the past and I'm told it's well worth it.

For more information, you can visit Greg's web site at http://www.gormanworkshops.com/Directory.html

Last week, two of our friends, Towner Jones and Ron Martinsen, posted some great content around the Perfect Photo Suite and we'd like to share them with you.

The first article by Towner is a fantastic screencast he recorded, showing a very creative way to use Perfect Layers 1.0 to generate a custom photo layout/collage. If you've been waiting to get a sneak preview of Perfect Layers 1.0, look no further than Towner's post!

Next up is a guest blog post by yours truly (Brian M) and is hosted by the ever-prolific Ron Martinsen. Ron had asked me to create a screenflow using several Perfect Photo Suite products to give a truly unique look to one of my images. Naturally, I went with a grungy UrbEx HDR photo and worked in some PhotoTools and FocalPoint love. You can check out the guest blog post on Ron's blog!
