In case you haven’t already read the PDN Gear Guide from November 27th, I’m excited to share with you that our DSLR Camera Remote application for the iPhone (and the iPod Touch) was listed as the number one iPhone app for Photographers.
When we first saw onOne Software’s DSLR Camera Remote app, we thought: “Whoa.” After we got a chance to play with [it] we revised our opinion and thought: “Holy Smokes! This isn’t just cool, it’s actually useful.”
You can check out the rest of the top 10 iPhone apps for photographers at the PDN web site. I own a few of the other apps and have just purchased 2 more.

Ugh. I just got 5 spam emails that I can only suspect are related to the ones that I have previously discussed here. I’ve received one other report from another user who received this as well. I clicked on the email and it took me to a Russian based web site not unlike the previous ones.

I just got word from our Operations Manager here at onOne that the Plug-In Suite 5 started shipping today. So if you had back-ordered the Plug-In Suite 5, you should see it show up very soon.

I’ve got another question I’d like to ask you and take a quick, informal poll. We’ve had a lot of feedback about our DSLR Camera Remote for the iPhone/iPod Touch and the corresponding DSLR Camera Remote Server application that runs on a laptop or desktop computer. In conversations with some other photographers, we’ve been asked if we had thought about expanding that server software to run as a full-featured tethered shooting camera control application.
So my quick question today is:

Like many of you I suspect, I just got my copy of Photoshop User magazine in the mail. This is one of the issues that I look forward to the most because it includes Scott Kelby’s annual Gonzo Gear Guide. I always enjoy reading about the gear that Scott recommends and usually find myself picking up at least one of the items on the list each year.
Last year, Scott included PhotoFrame 4 as the only Photoshop plug-in on the list. This year, Scott has expanded the software category to include a couple of additional plug-ins along with our brand new Photoshop plug-in FocalPoint 2. Turn to page 43 in your December 2009 issue of Photoshop User magazine to see for yourself. Also on the list in the software category are Viveza 2 from Nik Software and Topaz Adjust from Topaz Labs.
The items on this list this year that I think I’ll be picking up for myself or asking my wife to get me include David DuChemin’s new book Within the Frame: The Journey of Photographic Vision (available from Peachpit or Amazon); a Lastolite TriGrip One-Stop diffuser (Lastolite or B&H); or the Lastolite Hot Shoe EZYBox (Lastolite or B&H).
What’s on your list of photography items to get this year? Leave a comment below!
