I got an email this morning from my good friend Paul Friedman over at Lens Pro To Go about a new video that they just had made that introduces new (or old) customers to their company. I've had the pleasure of knowing Paul for about 4 years now after meeting him at a Photoshop World Conference and I can tell you that Paul is every bit as friendly and genuine as this video portrays him (and his co-workers) to be.
So why am I posting this? First, I'm happy to tell others about companies that I have had great experiences with and Lens Pro To Go fits that bill. I've rented several lenses from Paul and he offers a great service. Second, I absolutely love the cinematography in the video below and I think you will too. Take a look.

I'll be honest. Clearly I'm in the minority here because until yesterday, I had not seen the infamous Double Rainbow video on YouTube. 28,375,551 (and counting) other people had seen it, but not me. So when our sales team put together the Perfect Layers - Better than a Double Rainbow video below to spoof off/on/with it, I was at first saying "I don't get it". To which they looked at me like "do you live under a rock?"
So please watch this video in the spirit in which it is intended - to have some fun - and enjoy.

Update:
If you are a registered owner of the Perfect Photo Suite 5.5, Perfect Layers 1.0 is free for you via a Perfect Photo Suite 5.5.3 update. Learn more.
Earlier this morning, we announced the official release of Perfect Layers 1.0. All of us here at onOne Software are very excited about this product and based on the feedback we've gotten from hundreds of photographers, we're not alone.
Next week, our very own Brian Matiash will be holding another Perfect Layers All Star Webinar Week. Featured presenters include Sal Cincotta (register), Frank Salas (register) and Seth Resnick (register). Be sure to sign up to attend one of these free online webinars for some great examples of what you can do with Perfect Layers.
I also wanted to point out a great training video that Brian put together that shows off some of the cool things you can do with Perfect Layers.
Brian took a single image of a leaf and using Perfect Layers, duplicated the image and then adjusted the blending mode and opacity to get the image you see below. If you want to see how Brian did this, watch the video below.

I just got an email from my friend Vincent Versace about his upcoming Welcome to Oz 2.0 workshop with the Maine Media Workshops in July. The workshop runs July 3 - July 9, 2011 and is based on Vincent's new book, Welcome to Oz 2.0. It will be a great chance to get inspired by Vincent up close on how to be taken by a photograph rather than just take a photograph.
There are only a few spots left so if you're thinking of going, be sure to sign up soon. More information on this workshop can be found on the Maine Media Workshop web site.

This question has come in quite a bit since we announced that you can now pre-order Perfect Layers for only $99.95 so I thought I'd do a separate blog post for it.
The answer is, yes - Perfect Layers 1.0 can be used as a plug-in for Aperture and not just as an External Editor. We expect Perfect Layers to be shipping in mid-June. I've included a screen capture of my copy of Aperture that has our latest internal development build running as a plug-in for Aperture.
