FocalPoint in action

I just stumbled upon a blog post by Brian Glass of BrianGlassPhotography where he shows a great black and white photo that he converted and then added a selective focus effect using FocalPoint.

You can read Brian's full blog post and see the picture here.

Oh, and speaking of FocalPoint, if you haven't already seen the news, PC Photo Magazine has added FocalPoint to their list of must-have Photoshop plug-ins their 2009 Buyers Guide.

FocalPoint 1.0.2 for Photoshop CS4

FocalPoint users, we now have updates for Photoshop CS4 compatibility.

You'll want to go to our Software Updates page and download the 1.0.2 updates for both Mac OS X and Windows.

FocalPoint 1.0.2 for Windows

FocalPoint 1.0.2 for Mac OS X

Please note if you are using Photoshop CS4 on a Windows operating system, the onOne menu will not appear after running the update. You'll have to access FocalPoint from the File > Automate menu at this time. We hope to get an update out later that gets the onOne menu back, but for now, you'll need to go to File > Automate.

FocalPoint, PhotoTools and Photoshop CS4

This post is meant specifically for owners of FocalPoint 1 and PhotoTools 1 Professional Edition or Standard Edition. If you own any of these products independently from the Plug-In Suite 4 and are looking for Photoshop CS4 compatibility, we are in the final stages of completing the update and expect to have it posted next week for you to download.

If you own Plug-In Suite 4 and need to get Photoshop CS4 compatible versions of FocalPoint 1 and PhotoTools 1 Professional Edition, you can use the "Check for Update" feature in any of your Plug-In Suite 4 plug-ins to get the free update.

As you have probably already seen, the preview window in FocalPoint and PhotoTools is blank or white in Photoshop CS4. It's an Open GL issue and it broke on us in the very last pre-release build of Photoshop CS4. We have the fix and it's just taken us longer to roll out the patch to everybody. Longer than we would have liked and longer than we initially thought.

Thanks for hanging in there. The update will be posted soon and I'll also alert everyone here on the blog.

FocalPoint Review on Photography Blog

Jon Canfield has posted a great review on FocalPoint over at the Photography Blog site.

I would encourage everybody to read the full review, but if you're short on time, here's a short quote from the review:

"FocalPoint takes a tedious task and reduces it to a quick effort, and does it with higher quality than you'd be able to do yourself directly in Photoshop. The user interface is easy to navigate and the controls are intuitive and responsive. Portrait photographers will most likely find this plugin an important part of their workflow, but FocalPoint offers something for every type of shooting. An update due in December promises to add support for Lightroom 2.0 and Aperture 2.1, making this tool even more useful. At $159.95, or as part of the Plug-in Suite 4 (along with Genuine Fractals, PhotoTools Pro, Mask Pro, PhotoFrame Pro, and PhotoTune) for $499.95, FocalPoint can quickly pay for itself in a busy studio."

FocalPoint Webinar

I just finished up one of our free, weekly online webinars going over how to use our newest Photoshop plugin FocalPoint 1.0. If you missed the webinar, you can watch a replay of the webinar at anytime.

The webinar uses Acrobat Connect so if you've never used that before, your browser will prompt you to download and install a free plugin for your browser. Once you install it you'll be good to go!
