Hello all. Ah, the joys of software development when you are forced to rely on someone else making your software available.
First, for any of you who purchased the DSLR Camera Remote HD for the iPad earlier today or yesterday, please use these links to download the companion Server Software. DO NOT try to download the server software from any other location on our site at this time as the other versions won't work with the iPad version of the app.
DSLR Camera Remote Server HD for Windows
DSLR Camera Remote Server HD for Mac OS X
Please allow me to explain what happened for those of you who purchased the iPad version of our app (thank you very much by the way!) and why a previous version of the Server you downloaded didn't work.
The DSLR Camera Remote HD for the iPad uses the same Server software the the iPhone and iPod touch versions of the app use. All of these versions that we've been working on recently are all version 1.4 and all of these versions require a new version of the Server application because there are new features. The Server version on our web site right now is version 1.3 and it will not work with a 1.4 version of the app running on the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
Because the iPad version of our app is new, Apple does not give us control over when it goes live in the store. When they approve it, it's live. For the iPhone and iPod touch versions, Apple gives us a separate feature to allow us to control when those updates go live in the store because there is already an existing version for sale. I don't understand it, but that's how it goes. The problem is that we needed to make sure that version 1.4 of the iPhone and iPod touch apps were live before making version 1.4 of the Server available on our site as the main download that gets sent out as part of the download request.
For the time being, we've pulled the iPad version of the app from the iTunes store until the iPhone and iPod touch versions get approved at which point, we'll make the iPad version available for sale again. In the meantime, if you already purchased the iPad version, please use the links above to get the server that will work with your newly purchased application.
Thanks for your support and I apologize for the confusion and frustration. I understand how you all feel and would feel the same way.

At long last, I am happy to report that we have submitted DSLR Camera Remote HD for the iPad and DSLR Camera Remote 1.4 for the iPhone and iPod touch to the Apple iTunes Store for their approval process.
At this point, I'm not sure how long it will take for it to appear in iTunes as something you can buy (or as in the case if you already have version 1.3 on your iPhone or iPod touch, update) but as soon as I hear, I will let you know.
In the past, we've had a couple of questions and answers back and forth with the iTunes app approval people since our app requires the download of a separate app, the DSLR Camera Remote Server, but that shouldn't have a significant impact on anything.
If you are a current user of DSLR Camera Remote 1.3 on your iPhone or iPod touch, you can update to version 1.4 for free. The free update does not include the ability to start, stop and monitor video. That feature can be enabled via an in-app purchase of $9.99.
If you want to add this to your iPad, the DSLR Camera Remote HD application (also version 1.4) is a new purchase (there is no upgrade path from a previous version) for $49.99. The HD version includes the video start, stop and monitor functionality and there is no in-app purchase upgrade option on the version that is specific for the iPad.
Thank you all for your patience. This has taken longer than any of us would have liked, but I think you'll be pretty happy with it!

Last week at PhotoPlus Expo, we announced the upcoming DSLR Camera Remote HD for the iPad. This is a completely separate version of the original DSLR Camera Remote application originally developed for the iPhone and iPod touch. We anticipate that DSLR Camera Remote HD will be available for purchase in the iTunes app store sometime in late November. We'll let everybody know when it is actually available for purchase.
In the meantime, here's a rundown of what is and is not coming in this new app.

Ever since the iPad was announced, we've had dozens of photographers ask us if:
The answer is Yes for number 1 and No for number 2. Here's why.
