Update: Mac OS X Lion and Time Machine

August 9, 2011 by Mike Wong • 6 Comments

Good news. We're getting closer on our Mac OS X Lion update. We found two additional bugs and are fixing them now. The crashing issues that people are seeing when running PS CS5 in 64-bit mode has been fixed.

Other good news - we've discovered what is causing the Time Machine backups to fail. Please do not interpret my next sentence as any type of excuse, but rather as an attempt to provide you with as much info as possible. It's actually a bug with how Time Machine handles aliases but we're going to release an update that works around this Time Machine bug rather than wait for a Time Machine update.

We're going to release the fixes for the Time Machine backup along with the fixes for the PhotoTools and PhotoFrame crashing issues in Mac OS X Lion in an update that we should have available by the end of this week. This has been a high priority for us and we're glad we've got the fixes in place and are just going through the final testing, bug regression and installer building process.

As soon as the fixes are posted, we'll post here to the blog, to twitter, to Facebook and alert everyone via email.

August 1, 2011 by Mike Wong • 16 Comments

Just a quick update on compatibility with Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and PhotoTools and PhotoFrame. I just got an email from one of our developers that they believe they have the fix for this and will be testing it this week. If all goes well, we'll get the update out right away.

I'll post more when I hear from our development team. Thank you once again for your patience.

Read this before you upgrade to Mac OS X Lion

Important Notice regarding onOne Software and Mac OSX 10.7 Lion

If you are not a Mac OS X user, you can stop reading this now. :-)

If you are a Mac OS X user and plan on upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7 Lio, please read this important message.

Deactivate your onOne Software product before upgrading to Mac OS X Lion

Please make sure to deactivate your onOne Software products before installing Mac OS 10.7 or backing up your system disk and then installing Mac OSX 10.7. The instructions to deactivate the software are located HERE.

Once you have the new Mac OS X installed, you will be able to open your onOne Software products and activate without any trouble.

PhotoFrame Users

If you are using PhotoFrame and make changes to your image and choose the 'Apply' button, the product will crash (along with Photoshop). This only occurs when using the product as a Photoshop plug-in. We are working on releasing an update to address this problem. PhotoFrame will perform fine if you are using PhotoFrame as a standalone application. This is a temporary work around so you will have use of the product while we work on the update.

PhotoTools Users

If you are using PhotoTools to make changes to your image and choose the 'Apply' button, the product will crash (along with Photoshop). We are working on releasing an update to address this problem. Unfortunately, we do not have a work around for this issue and will be releasing an update to address this problem.

Photoshop CS 5.5 Compatibility Update Available

May 26, 2011 by Mike Wong • 4 Comments

If you've recently upgraded to or purchased Photoshop CS5.5, you will want to make sure you get our latest product updates to make sure the installers work properly, placing the necessary pieces for our plug-ins in the right places.

Here are the scenarios in which you'll need to download and install these updates.

Scenario 1

You have installed a demo or have purchased Photoshop CS 5.1 (part of the Creative Suite 5.5) and then you tried to install a demo or purchased version of any of the onOne Products. The result, prior to today, is that the install would have failed.

If this describes you, you will want to make sure that you delete any previous installers you may have downloaded but not yet run. Once you do that, head over to our support section and download the appropriate installer.

If you're purchasing onOne Software for the first time on or after 5/26/11, the links you get in your order confirmation email will be correct and you do not need to download a different installer than what the email points you to.

Scenario 2

You are a current onOne Software and Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3 customer and you update your installed copy of Photoshop CS5 to version 5.1. If you do this and then try to run one of our products from within Lightroom's File > Plug-in Extras menu, you would have seen an error message.

The update installers that we have posted to our support site will resolve this issue.

Latest Version Numbers

As of 5/26/11, here is a list of the most current version numbers for each of our products.

onOne Plug-ins and Windows 7

I've heard from our customer support team this morning that they are getting some calls from users who have brand new computers running Windows 7 (64-bit) and after running an onOne product installer, everything appears to install correctly, but nothing shows up in Photoshop. Typical troubleshooting methods such as checking UAC, uninstalling, reinstalling, checking virus protection settings and logging in as another user, things that typically resolve the problem, are not working here.

If this is happening to you, if you can provide us with the following information when you contact us, it will help us track the problem down so we can work on a fix.
