Genuine Fractals 5 named Must Have Software Program by Popular Photography
Popular Photography Magazine has named onOne Software’s Genuine Fractals 5 to their Top 5 Must Have Software Programs for October 2007.
Said Popular Photography, “When you have to resize a picture up from small, medium, or large to big, huge, or ginormous, the task is best left to a program like Genuine Fractals 5 ($160 new, $70 upgrade, direct). The master upsizer will likely do a much better job of image enlargement than your favorite editing software, and the new version gives you far more control than ever before.”
Genuine Fractals 5 features an entirely new interface from previous versions and has be rewritten and optimized to perform up to 10 times faster than previous versions. Genuine Fractals 5 no longer requires users to save files in the .STN (or Sting) file format like earlier versions, however users looking to compress files in a lossless, yet compact file format may still save files in the .STN format.
Perhaps the most important new feature in Genuine Fractals 5 is the new access to the Texture controls. These are the key variables in the patented Genuine Fractals scaling algorithm. Having access to these controls, users can now fine tune Genuine Fractals to apply the algorithm more to edges or more to the continuous tone (or non-edge) areas of an image to pull out more detail.
Also new in Genuine Fractals 5 is the ability to keep your Photoshop layered files in tact after the enlarging takes place. This means users no longer have to flatten their files and Genuine Fractals 5 will properly enlarge all layers including Smart Objects, adjustment layers, saved paths and non-rasterized text. Genuine Fractals 5 also includes new sharpening and film grain options to streamline the final stages of the users workflow.
