I am having trouble downloading the product (Mac and Windows)
Windows download instructions
- Please close all of your applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture) or any other programs before running the installer.
- Click on the download link for the program you want to install (Note: If the download is timing out or not completing, you may want to try using a download manager. Many of our customers have success with Internet Download Manger)
- You will be asked if you want to SAVE the file or RUN it from its current location. If you are asked this question, please select “SAVE” (Choosing RUN may cause an incomplete or corrupt download)
- You will then be asked to select the folder where you want to save the program or file, using a standard “Save As” dialog box. Please pay attention to which folder you select before clicking the “Save” button. We recommend saving to the desktop.
- The download will now begin. Your web browser will keep you updated on the progress of the download by showing a progress bar as you download. You will also be reminded where you’re saving the file. The file will be saved as “C:\Users\Desktop(name of Plug in).exe”. ( Note: You may also see a check box labeled “Close this dialog box when download completes.” If you see this check box, it helps to uncheck this box.
- Once the file completes downloading, click the “Open” button to run the file you just downloaded. If you don’t see the “Download complete” dialog box, open the folder where you saved the file and double-click on the icon for the file there. ZIP files: ZIP is a common file format used to compress and combine files to make them download more quickly. Some versions of Windows XP can read ZIP files without extra software. Otherwise, you will need an unzipping program to read these ZIP files. Common unzipping programs are WinZIP, but there are also many others. Many unzipping programs are shareware, which means you will need to purchase them if you use them beyond their specified trial period.
- How to unzip or extract: The most popular decompression software for Windows is WinZip, a commercial product with a free evaluation version. Once you have installed one of these tools (WinZip), you can right-click on a .zip file to get a WinZip menu. From there you can specify where you want to extract the files. If you already have extraction software you can right click on the zip file and choose extract.
- The file to install the program is: setup.exe. Double click on this file and the installer should automatically run.
- When finished, launch our program via primary software (Photoshop, Lightroom, Aperture, or Standalone)
NOTE: Also emptying your temporary internet files will sometimes help when you have difficulties downloading files: To learn how to empty your temporary internet files, please click here.
Here is a short video with instructions on how to download the Windows installer.
What is an .exe file?
An exe file (pronounced as letters E-X-E) is a computer file that ends with the extension “.exe” otherwise known as an executable file. When one clicks on an exe file, a built-in routine automatically executes code that can set several functions into motion. Exe files are used to install and run programs and routines.
An exe file is just one of several file format types that are recognized by various operating systems. Text files, which are files that do not generate code but simply display text, end in txt. Microsoft Word saves files with the doc extension, short for document. Another common file type is the compressed or zipped file, which uses the zip extension.
Downloading is the process of copying a file from one computer to another across the internet.
